Gianmaria Melis, violin

Concertmaster of the Lyric Theatre of Cagliari since 2009, his career has consisted of many important experiences and collaborations, including: the RAI Symphony Orchestra of Turin, The Musical Afternoons of Milan, the Toscanini Philharmonic of Parma, the Carlo Felice Theatre in Genoa, Galilei of Florence, the Haydn Symphony Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento, the Sicilian Symphony Orchestra, the Petruzzelli Theatre, etc.

He has worked with many important conductors, including: Carlo Maria Giulini, Yuri Ahronovich, Lorin Maazel, Frans Brüggen, Donato Renzetti, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Ton Koopman, Christhofer Hogwood, Daniele Gatti, Maurizio Benini, Marko Letonya.

In the chamber environment, he has undertaken important collaborations with musicians such as Sergei Krylov, Hansjörg Schellenberger, Pierre Goy, Simonides Braconi, and Klaidi Sahatci. Since 2014 he has also played regularly with the Novafonic Quartet.

He regularly holds international specialisation master classes in Italy.

He plays a 1929 “Silvio Vezio Paoletti” violin and a 2008 “Pio Montanari” violin.
