Luis Costa took his first piano lessons from Zhuang Xiao Hua when he was 8 years old and few years later, he pursued his studies with Álvaro Teixeira Lopes. Very preponderant in his formation was also the work with J. Soriano (Madrid), F. Rieger (Stuttgart), and G. Katsarava (Paris). Nowadays he keeps contact with the pianist Maria João Pires, a great inspiration throughout his career. 

His career has led him to perform all around Europe, Azerbaijan, USA, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Canada, Brazil, and China, performing in concert halls such as the Sala Suggia of Casa da Musica, Glenn Gould Studio, Auditorio Ciudad de Léon, Centro Cultural de Belém, Xinghai Concert Hall or Hebei Arts Center among others. He participated at the Sant Pere de Rodes Festival, Music Paths Festival, St. Mesnil des Arts Festival, Ciclo Jovens Talentos Teatro do Campo Alegre, Musique en Vallée du Tarn Festival, Besalú Music Festival and Hammerklavier Series. He dedicates part of his time to chamber music, having worked with musicians such as A. Meneses, L. Claret, Hans-Peter Stenzl and A. Chagas Rosa. He has an intense activity in duo with his brother cellist, Fernando Costa. He attended the Doctoral Program of Aveiro University, where he taught in 2016. He has a regular masterclass activity in several music conservatories in Portugal, having also oriented classes in China, Belgium, Namibia, Zimbabwe and France. Besides that, he was artistic director of several music festivals and he his Artistic coordinator of Santa Cecilia International Competition. He recorded for RTP and Antena 2, CHIN radio and NBC television. He is represented by the agency KNS Artists Management. He recorded CDs with works by Scarlatti, Schumann and Chopin for KNS Classical. Recently published a CD dedicated to unpublished Portuguese music for piano and cello, recorded at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and published in Berlin with the publisher Decurio. 

Lately. Luis Costa dedicates also part of his time to jazz and composition being one of his recent projects performing live original music for the movie “The Lodger”, by Hitchcock.
