Andrej Shaklev, piano
Andrej Shaklev was born on August 8, 1997, in Shtip, North Macedonia. He graduated in 2016 from the State Music School “Sergej Mihajlov” in his hometown, where he studied with Prof. Marija Maksimova and was also working privately with Milica Ribarska Sperovik. In the same year, he was admitted to the “Giuseppe Tartini” Conservatory in Trieste, where he studied with Prof. Teresa Trevisan.
During his studies, he attended the Mozarteum University Salzburg (2018–2019, class of Klaus Kaufmann) and the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (2019–2020, class of Jan Jiracek von Arnim) as an Erasmus student. He obtained both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees with highest honors from the Conservatory of Trieste.
Alongside his academic studies, he completed a three-year advanced piano course at the International Piano Academy “Incontri col Maestro” in Imola under Boris Petrushansky. In 2023–2024, he completed a second-level Master’s degree at the Conservatory of Trieste and an Artist Diploma at the Royal College of Music in London, with a full scholarship, under Dorian Leljak.
Shaklev has won numerous prizes in national and international competitions, including first prizes at the Coimbra International Piano Meeting (2025), “Strumenti & Musica Festival” (Spoleto), “Città di Alessandria,” “Città di Villafranca,” “Villa Oliva,” Monegros 88 Keys IPC, and Ohridski Biseri (Grand Prix). He has also received awards in competitions across Europe.
He has performed in Italy and internationally (North Macedonia, Austria, Spain, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary). In January 2025, he performed Mozart’s Piano Concerto K.415 with the Filarmonia das Beiras Orchestra in Coimbra, conducted by Tiago Oliveira.
He has been supported by the Williamson WFM Foundation (USA), the Kathleen Foreman Casali Foundation, and the Inner Wheel Club of Trieste. He is currently teaching at the “Luigi Canepa” Conservatory in Sassari.
