Ryutaro Suzuki

The Japanese international pianist, Ryutaro Suzuki is one today’s most promising talents. He has already performed in several important festivals in Europe, such as Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad (Switzerland), Festival de Nohant (France), and Festival Chopin in Paris. He has also performed as a soloist with orchestras, such as the National Odessa Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra of the Conservatory of Paris, and Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.

He was born in Kamakura, Japan in 1990. After spending his high school years in Japan, he moved to France, in 2008, to study at the Conservatory of Paris (Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris), where he attended the classes of Bruno RIGUTTO, Hortense CARTIER-BRESSON, Michel BEROFF, and Michel DALBERTO. During his Master’s degree, he put a special emphasis on Liszt’s paraphrased pieces from different operas. He also worked under the tutorship of Marta GRABOCZ (Université de Strasbourg). At the present time, he is receiving further guidance from Eliso VIRSALADZE, a legendary Georgian pianist.

Ryutaro Suzuki also received many prizes in international piano competitions. Among others: two special prizes at the 6th International Tbilisi Piano Competition, Georgia (2017), 1st prize at the 17th International Piano Competition Ile-de-France, France (2015), 2nd prize at the 6th International Piano Competition in memory of Emil Gilels, Ukraine (2015), Maurice Ravel Prize at the Ravel International Academy, France (2014), and the Best interpretation of Spanish music at the 27th International Piano Competition Ciudad de Ferrol, Spain (2013, 2017)

He currently resides in Paris and performs throughout Europe, as well as in Japan, where his career started at the age of 9, after giving his first concerto performance as a soloist.

In October 2017, he released his first solo album including works by Scarlatti, Mozart, Ravel, and Liszt.
