Pedro Emanuel Pereira

Pedro Emanuel Pereira is one of the most outstanding pianists of his generation. Known for his talent for performing works of various styles, the pianist also tends to improvise around compositions of diverse nature, a territory less frequented by classical music pianists.

When he was only 15 years old, Pedro Emanuel Pereira won the International Piano Competition City of San Sebastian, Spain, in the superior category up to 24 years. One year later he made his debut at Casa da Musica, in Oporto.

Winner of the First Prize and Hvorostovsky Prize at the PianoVoce International Competition in Moscow in 2014, Pedro Emanuel Pereira got the first prize in more than 20 international piano competitions.

In July 2017, he won the First Prize at the 19th edition of the Santa Cecilia International Competition in Oporto.

Pedro Emanuel Pereira was born in 1990 in Guimarães, Portugal.

At the early age of 5, he began his musical studies by playing the piano.

He then attended the musical high school in his native country where he was graduated in 2008. During his education, he studied in the class of Marian Pivka.

In 2008, Pedro Emanuel Pereira moved to Russia to study in the Moscow State Conservatory named after P. I. Tchaikovsky under Professor Vera Gornostaeva’s guidance and supported by a scholarship from Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

In 2014 he graduated with full marks.

In 2015, he moved back to Europe to study in the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, in the Netherlands, under Professor Naum Grubert guidance, with a scholarship from the Jacques Vonk Foundation as the best incoming master student.

He graduated in 2017 with honours, with the highest possible mark.

During his studies in Moscow, Pedro Emanuel Pereira performed more than 200 concerts in all Russia as a soloist, with orchestras, and in chamber music groups.

His international career has already opened him perform at venues through the world, as well as at a number of prestigious festivals in Denmark, France, Germany, India, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine, and U.S.A.
