KNS Classical Proudly Welcomes Bass-baritone Mikhail Smigelski and the Rarely Performed “Russian Gems”

Called by Harvard Crimson “a phenomenal singer, with a robust, melodious bass-baritone with serious power,” Mikhail Smigelski was born in St. Petersburg and was raised around sacred music.
Now he enters KNS Classical with the art songs of two composers most well-known for their choral music: Pavel Chesnokov and Alexander Grechaninov. Both composers wrote collections of art-songs, which never received the same acclaim or attention of their sacred music.
With this recording, Smigelski hopes to share these hidden gems of Russian music with a much wider audience, and maybe bring them some of the recognition that has eluded them until now, because he really believes they deserve to be heard. So we do at KNS Classical!
