From Bach to Rachmaninov: Andrej Shaklev’s “Inner Voice”
Macedonian pianist Andrej Shaklev presents a compelling programme that spans more than two centuries of piano literature, bringing together works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin and Rachmaninoff.
The recording opens with Busoni’s celebrated transcription of Bach’s Ich ruf zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ, followed by Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 11 in B-flat major, Op. 22, a work that combines classical elegance with growing expressive depth. The second half of the programme features two cornerstones of the Romantic repertoire: Chopin’s Ballade No. 1 in G minor, Op. 23 and Rachmaninoff’s monumental Piano Sonata No. 2 in B-flat minor, Op. 36.
A prizewinner of numerous international competitions in Italy and Europe, Shaklev has performed extensively in North Macedonia, Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. His artistic development has been guided by distinguished musicians including Teresa Trevisan, Boris Petrushansky, Riccardo Risaliti and Klaus Kaufmann.
This new release showcases a pianist equally at ease with the spiritual introspection of Bach, the architectural clarity of Beethoven, the narrative power of Chopin and the sweeping sonorities of Rachmaninoff.
