REVIEW – Enigma by Wenting Yu, featured in New York Concert Review
Pianist Wenting Yu’s album Enigma, released by KNS Classical, has received an extensive review in New York Concert Review, highlighting both Yu’s artistry and his commitment to the rediscovery of Robert Casadesus’s music.
Bringing together works by Rameau, Debussy, Ravel and Casadesus, Enigma explores the connections and influences that shaped the French piano tradition. The review praises Yu’s sensitivity, technical command and wide palette of colours, as well as his remarkable attention to sound, articulation and musical detail.
The performances of Casadesus’s works receive particular recognition. Referring to the two Études from Op. 28, the reviewer writes: “Mr. Yu delivers astonishingly clean performances, full of vitality, wit, and charm.”
