From Ravel to Scriabin: Zeyu Shen’s New Recording Explores Musical Transformation
KNS Classical proudly presents a new recording by pianist Zeyu Shen, winner of the Lyon International Piano Competition, where he also received the prize for the Best Interpretation of Spanish Music, becoming the first Chinese pianist to win the competition.
This carefully conceived programme follows a gradual transformation, moving from the elegance of Ravel’s Valses nobles et sentimentales and the bold architecture of Busoni’s Toccata to the visionary world of Alexander Scriabin. Rather than presenting isolated masterpieces, the recital creates a continuous musical thread in which each work naturally leads to the next.
The second half of the album is devoted entirely to Scriabin, featuring the Deux Danses, Op. 73, the Four Pieces, Op. 56, and the composer’s Fourth and Seventh Sonatas. Together, these works reveal a fascinating musical language in which colour, atmosphere and imagination take centre stage.
An internationally active concert pianist, Zeyu Shen has appeared across Europe, Asia and the United States, collaborating with leading orchestras and earning recognition for the depth and individuality of his interpretations.
