“Young Szymanowski”: Oscar Macchioni Reveals the Early Genius of a Polish Master

KNS Classical announces the release of Young Szymanowski, a new recording by internationally acclaimed pianist and Steinway Artist Oscar Macchioni, dedicated to the fascinating early piano works of Polish composer Karol Szymanowski (1882–1937).

The album offers a revealing portrait of the composer during his formative years, when the influence of Chopin, Scriabin and the late Romantic tradition began to give way to an increasingly individual musical language. Through the Nine Preludes, Op. 1, the Variations in B-flat minor, Op. 3, the Four Etudes, Op. 4, and the posthumous Prelude in C-sharp minor, Macchioni explores works distinguished by their harmonic richness, expressive intensity and imaginative piano writing.

Born in Argentina, Oscar Macchioni has performed extensively throughout Europe and the Americas, including appearances at Carnegie Hall and prestigious venues in London. An accomplished recording artist, author and educator, he is currently Associate Professor of Piano Pedagogy and Chair of the Division of Keyboard Studies at the University of North Texas College of Music. His discography reflects a longstanding commitment to bringing distinctive and lesser-known repertoire to wider audiences.

With Young Szymanowski, Macchioni sheds new light on an important chapter in the composer’s artistic development, offering listeners an opportunity to discover the origins of one of the twentieth century’s most original musical voices.

This exceptional recording is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes and Amazon Music and YouTube.
